Technology is now...

27 November 2014

We have just read a really interesting article emailed to us by a friend of The Home Partnership and wanted to share with you some snippets that could be coming in 2015!

It’s no surprise where technology goes, The Home Partnership quickly follow. First it was online listings instead of the local papers. Then it was phone apps, so you could browse the market while you were in a meeting,  on the bus or walking down the street (to the infuriation of fellow pedestrians). Next came QE codes, those funny little square barcodes, so you could take a picture of an estate agent’s sign outside your dream property and have the details automatically pinged into your pocket.

What’s next?

One of the expected trends for this next year is a surge in wearable technology. At the forefront of the trend is Google Glass, a device that looks like a pair of spectacles, but which can take pictures and video and from what we have read the possibilities the new gadget provides are nearly endless.

So, as we understand it, compared with normal video tours, Google Glass will feel incredibly immediate where people don’t feel as if they’re looking at a camera, so they relax and the experience is much more natural, the viewer gets a real point-of-view perspective of a house and It gives you a real sense of place.

Most buyers or tenants decide on a property based on their gut instincts and Glass could really give you this; it democratises visual content for homes, creates the possibility of giving a tour of a home live to viewers around the world, who would be able to ask themselves the kind of questions you normally need a viewing for: Is the house noisy? What does it smell like? Could you just check round that corner?

Although this all sounds a bit like Doc from Back to The Future – It will be game changing for us once it arrives!
